07 · QR code for reviews

QR code to your Google reviews

Paste your review link from Google and get a QR code, a table sign or a sticker to print.

  • The code is created in your browser
  • No detour through us: the code never leaves your device
  • The link is not saved

How it works

How to find your review link

  1. Sign in to Google Business Profile

Search for your company name in Google while you are signed in with the account that owns the profile. You can also open the Google Maps app and go to your business profile there.

  2. Choose “Ask for reviews”

The button is called Ask for reviews. If you do not see it, try Read reviews and then Get more reviews. Google sometimes moves the button, so look for the word reviews if you cannot find it.

  3. Copy the link and paste it here

Google shows a link to the review form. Copy it, paste it in the field above and press Create QR code.

Good to know about the code

  • The code is static. It contains the link you pasted and has no expiry date.
  • It points straight at that link, not via us and not via any redirect service.
  • If Google changes the review link itself, you need to create a new code and replace signs that have already been printed.
  • The link is not sent to our server and is not saved. Everything is worked out in your browser.
  • The code is black on white with clear space all round, so that most phone cameras read it without trouble. Do not put a logo or an image over it.
  • Always test the code with your phone camera before you print.

How do I get more Google reviews?

Satisfied customers often forget to write a review. What usually helps is to make it easy and to ask straight away, while the customer is still pleased: at the till, when the job is done or when you hand over the key. With a QR code the customer reaches the review box by scanning the code with the phone camera, without having to search for your business. All you need is the link, and you find it in your Google Business Profile.

Is the profile not complete yet? Go through our checklist for local SEO and Google Business Profile first, so that whoever reads your reviews also sees the right opening hours, address and pictures.

Where do I put the QR code?

Put it where the customer already is: at the till or counter, on the table, in the shop window or on the receipt. The table sign suits salons, cafés and receptions. The sticker suits the till, the car window or a service book. You can put the plain code in the invoice, the quote or the email signature. Make the code at least three centimetres wide, and larger if it is to be read from a distance: as a rule of thumb a phone reads a code from about ten times its width. Put it at eye level and leave clear space round the code. Print it on white paper and test it with your own phone before you put it up.

May you ask customers for reviews?

Yes, you may ask your customers for a review. According to Google’s guidelines you may not offer anything in return, such as a discount or a gift, and you should not ask only the customers you know are pleased. The reviews should reflect real experiences. Never write reviews of your own company, and do not ask employees or friends to do it for you.

Reply to all reviews, even the critical ones. Thank them briefly, answer factually and offer to sort out what went wrong: the next customer reads the reply too. If you want help with Google Business Profile, we are happy to take care of it, for a price that you are told before we start.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the QR code

Does the QR code expire?

No. The code is static: the link you pasted is built into the image itself, and the image has no expiry date. It works as long as the link it points to works. If Google changes the review link, for example if the profile is removed or merged with another, you need to create a new code.

Does it cost anything?

No. The tool is free, and you need neither create an account nor give an email address. You may download and print as many codes as you like. We add no watermark, no advertising and no detour to the code.

Which durability should I choose?

M is enough for most things and is the default. Choose Q for stickers and signs that may get dirty or scratched, and H for surfaces that wear a lot. L suits when the code is shown on a screen. Higher durability usually gives a denser code with smaller squares, so print it a little larger.

Why does my link not work?

Most often the link was cut off when you copied it, it goes to the business’s profile instead of to the review box, or it starts with http:// instead of https://. Paste the link into the browser and check that the box for giving a rating opens. The customer must also be signed in to Google to be able to leave a review. If the button Ask for reviews is missing altogether, the profile may need to be verified first.

Can I use the code for something other than reviews?

Yes. A QR code is just a link in picture form. Paste any https:// address, such as your website, the menu, the booking page or your Instagram, and the code is created in the same way. The tool gives a neutral note when the address is not from Google, but the code works just as well.
